While going to classes and workshops are an important way to begin and develop our yogic practices, sustaining a regular home practice is essential in order to meet our specific personal needs, deepen our experiential insights, and to tap into our creative capacity as teachers.

Our dedicated yoga and Mindfulness meditation practices help orient our center of gravity in the center of our being, aligning our attention with our inner life, while helping us relate to ourselves and the world around us with more care, vision and aliveness.

This workshop is intended to strengthen our capacity for clear and sustained body/mind integration regardless of what is arising, and will act as a potential structure for committing to a balanced home practice that can keep our bodies healthy, our emotions rich, and our minds wakeful.

Drawing from her book Insight Yoga (which was recently translated into Japanese), Sarah will share her unique blend of Yin Yoga (passive floor poses that nourish the connective tissues of the joints and harmonize the energy body), with a slow alignment based flow practice, Pranayama, and a clear and accessible meditation practice. We will focus on distinct sequences that you can weave into your home practice on a regular basis.

This intensive is recommended for all yoga teachers and those with at least one-year of yoga experience and an interest in blending your yoga sequences with a mindful attitude, while devoting regular time to a yin/yang yoga/meditation self practice. Reading a copy of Sarah¡Çs book is highly recommended before attending this workshop.

Sarah Powers began teaching in 1987. She is the founder and author of Insight Yoga, which interweaves the insights and practices of Yoga, Buddhism, Taoism, and Transpersonal Psychology into an integral practice to discover and enliven the body, heart and mind. Her yoga style blends both a Yin sequence of floor poses to enhance the meridian and organ systems, combined with an alignment-based slow flow or Yang practice, influenced by Viniyoga, Ashtanga, Iyengar teachings, and QIgong.

Sarah feels that enlivening the physical and pranic bodies, as well as learning to meet our psychological reactivity is paramount for preparing one to deepen and nourish insights into one's essential nature--a natural state of awareness.

She draws from her studies in Transpersonal Psychology, as well as her in-depth training in the Vipassana, Tantric and Dzogchen practices of Buddhism. Her main influences have been Tsoknyi Rinpoche, Jennifer Welwood, Lama Tsultrim Allione, Bhante Gunaratana, Lama Pema Dorje, Stephen and Martine Batchelor and B. Alan Wallace.
